It is worth noting also that Dublin is a Georgian city with many one way streets and unusual rules such as lanes that can only be entered at certain times of the day, special speed limits in certain parts of the city and zones that are forbidden for cars at various times. Road signage too is often criticised as not being clear enough in Ireland’s capital city.
It can be a challenge getting used to the Dublin roads so we recommend public transport as a far simpler way to travel to the city. Dublin Airport still does not have a train station however the Airlink Express service has up to 300 departures per day to ensure that everyone who flies in can enjoy a quick and hassle free airport transfer.
For those who are intent on hiring a car for their Irish vacation please be assured that the roads are a lot less tricky anywhere else in the country outside of Dublin city.

Warning; if you are travelling to Dublin Airport by car to catch a plane be aware that at certain times traffic can be extremely slow coming from all directions. You can be stuck in a traffic jam from 2 kilometres from the airport which takes an hour to get through. Always leave yourself plenty of time just to arrive at Dublin Airport if you are travelling there by car…(or just take the Airlink Express and avoid all the traffic)
